We use an electronic key system for your room security with card reader access. Should you misplace or require duplicate key cards, please contact reception. Identification will be required.

Checkout and Express Checkout

Check-out is no later than 11:00 unless pre-arranged. Please note, late check-out is subject to availability. Please contact our reception team to arrange a late check out (Late check-out fees may apply).

We have express checkout available for all guest paying by credit card simply leave your keys in one of the express checkout boxes located at reception on the ground floor and in the basement car park. Payment will be charged to your credit card, and a copy of your receipt will be sent to you via email.

Luggage Storage and Porterage Services

Storage facilities are available at reception. For luggage collection or delivery, please contact reception.

Umbrellas

There are umbrellas available complimentary for use during your stay from reception. Please return these to reception at or before check out.

Mail

The closet post office is located on the corner of Moore St and Alinga St. If you would like to send a parcel to the hotel before you arrive for your reservation or during your stay please contact reception to make these arrangements.

Printing and Photocopying

Limited photocopying and printing services are available from our guest services team at reception. Please note, charges may apply.

Maintenance

If you should find anything in your room that is not in working order, please contact reception.

Lost and Found

If you believe you have left an item behind, please contact reception. If the item is in our possession, we can arrange postage to return the items (charges apply). Alternatively, you can collect from the hotel reception.

Pool Towels

Pool towels are available on level 2 by the swimming pool.

To help care for the environment and reduce our water consumption, we ask guests limit their use of pool towels to one per person.

Power Adaptors

Guest rooms are equipped to operate to 240V appliances. We have a limited number of adaptors may be borrowed from reception subject to availability. Charger cables can be purchased from one of the many convenience stores in the city.

Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. A “Do Not Disturb” sign is provided this should be hung outside your door for privacy. When the sign is displayed our staff will know not to disrupt you.

All rooms are equipped with a safety deposit box for valuables kept inside the room. For assistance, please contact guest services.

Housekeeping

The housekeeping department will be more than happy to assist you with additional supplies and services to make your stay more comfortable rooms are clean between 9 am and 3:30 pm. If you wish to have your room cleaned at a specific time, require additional blankets pillows or towels, please contact our friendly reception team.

Swimming Pool

The indoor heated swimming pool is located on level two on the left at the end of the corridor. Use your room key card to access the pool area. Our pool is heated to 24 degrees in cooler months and open 6.00am – 10.00pm daily.

Pool Rules:

While the pool is provided for your pleasure incorrect and unsupervised use of the facilities may cause a hazard and can lead to injury.
There are no lifeguards on duty so all precautions must be taken for your personal safety
Children 16 and under must be supervised and accompanied by an adult at all times
The floor and surrounding areas may be slippery when wet, so avoid running and jumping
No glass bottles or alcohol are permitted in the pool area
Please be respectful of other pool uses and take all reasonable precautions for your own safety
Observe all safety and warning signs
There is no diving allowed in our pool

Sauna and Spa

Our sauna and spa are located in the pool area on level two, accessible using your room key card. Please be advised the sauna is unsupervised and children under 16 are not allowed in the sauna under any circumstance.

Gym and Fitness Centre

A fully equipped gymnasium is available to all guests free of charge access is via level 2, on the left at the end of the corridor. The gym is open from 6.00 pm till 10.00pm.

Suitable workout attire must be worn to use the gym, including enclosed shoes at all times

Onsite Parking

Novotel Canberra offers limited on-site undercover car parking, exclusively for our in-house guests.

Limited undercover car parking is available for in-house guests only and on a first-come first-served basis. Parking is an additional cost at $35 per night.

Due to the limited number of parking spaces at Novotel Canberra, we are unable to guarantee or reserve parking. Please note oversized vehicles cannot be accommodated in the hotel car park.

Access to our car park is located behind the hotel via the down ramp off Moore St.

For your safety, we kindly request that you do not leave valuables in your vehicle and ensure that it is securely locked before departing. Please be aware that parking is at your own risk, and Novotel Canberra does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to vehicles, persons, or property.

Offsite Parking – City West Car Park

Additional offsite parking is available at a discounted rate exclusive to Novotel Canberra guests, for $26 per night. Please check-in before parking to secure the exclusive rate. City West Car Park is only a short 500metre walk from Novotel via Alinga Street with entry is available until 11pm, and vehicle access from 5am.

We invite you to use the 5 minute pick-up/set-down zone on Northbourne Ave, at the front of the hotel, for check-in and smooth luggage drop-off. Luggage trolleys and courtesy umbrellas are also available if required.

Temporary Road Closures

As part of the Canberra’s ongoing infrastructure improvements, roadworks are currently taking place along sections of Northbourne Avenue and nearby streets. We expect the impact on access to the hotel to be minimal during this time.

Bus Services and Light Rail

Canberra’s central bus interchange is less than 200m walk from Novotel Canberra in the city centre.

Canberra’s City light rail terminal is located at the front of the hotel and runs every 10-15mins from the city through the northern suburbs terminating at The Gungahlin Marketplace.

Both public transport options use a MyWay card to pay for services. You can pick up a MyWay card from various businesses in the City including, supa 24 and ezy mart.

Emergency

Please dial reception unless there is a life-threatening emergency, then call 000.

First Aid Kit and Medical Services

Please contact reception to speak with the Duty Manager for non-emergency first aid treatment, like the use of band aids and ice-packs. There is a medical centre within walking distance of the hotel, please see reception for details.

Fire Safety

An evacuation map is located on the back of your room door. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the location of your room, the location of the fire exit stairway and evacuation points. Your room is fitted with a smoke detector and sound alarm system for your safety. It is against the law to tamper with or remove a smoke detector.

Please note the Fire Brigade will charge the hotel a fee for any false alarms, we may pass this charge on to you, so please take care.

EVACUATION

In the unlikely event of a fire emergency in the hotel remain calm. In the event of an evacuation, please walk briskly to your nearest exit and assembly point, DO NOT RUN.

Before leaving the room, feel the edges of the door, if heat is evident place wet towels or anything wet under the door. Stay in your room and remain close to the floor and notify reception.

If reception is unavailable dial 000, ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY.

Use the fire exit stairs only. DO NOT USE THE LIFTS/ELEVATORS. If you encounter smoke crawl on your hands and knees as quickly as possible to the fire exit stairs follow the illuminated exit signs once in the front fire exit, do not stop until you exit the building. Inform reception if you have a physical condition which might impact your ability to either detect an alarm or evacuate by the stairway.

Assembly Point

The main emergency assembly point is located at the corner of Northbourne Avenue and Rudd Street next to Canberra city uniting Church.

Please use this assembly point unless otherwise directed by a hotel fire warden or by emergency services.

Billing Methods

Pre-Authorisation and Security Bond

As a condition of stay, a photo ID will be required on arrival for all guests, along with a valid debit or credit card.

Credit and Debit Cards

As per the hotel’s policy, on check in we request you to kindly provide us with a valid Credit or Debit Card, matching the name on the reservation.

At the time of check-in, the hotel requires payment in full for accommodation, as well as a security deposit. With a credit and debit card, we take a bond of $1.01. Upon final settlement of the bill, the bond is released from our end onto the initial card provided. Note: Depending on your financial institution, pending/ held funds can take up to seven (7) working days to be released.

Cash Payments

For guests’ preferring to settle by cash, we charge the accommodation & parking (if any) upfront. A bond equal to the accommodation cost will be taken. Please note: On check out, guest rooms with cash bonds are liable to being checked prior to the bond being returned.
