National Citizenship and Flag Raising Ceremony

The National Citizenship and Flag Raising Ceremony is held at Rond Terrace on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin every year. It is an opportunity for the nation to Reflect. Respect. Celebrate. on Australia Day.

An Australian Citizenship Ceremony will welcome the newest Australian Citizens, and with it, the Australian National Flag will be flown overhead by Helicopter and raised onstage by Australia’s Federation Guard. The ceremony features the RMC Band, 21 gun-salute and a RAAF fly over.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event but will not have access to the fenced-off area. There is plenty of room to bring a chair or a rug to sit on and watch the event ceremony.

Further information will be available closer to the day on the event website.

Australia Day at Regatta Point

Australians are invited to head to Regatta Point Precinct and enjoy a free community BBQ.

Come relax at the park and enjoy family-friendly entertainment, free kids activities and live music. Public transport or walking over from the city is recommended to make your trip hassle-free.
