Step into the remarkable world of Antarctica and uncover the stories of Australians who have explored, lived and worked on the icy continent for more than a century. From pioneering explorers to modern-day expeditioners at research stations including Mawson and Macquarie Island, discover the people behind Australia’s Antarctic history.

Explore rare artefacts from one of the world’s largest Antarctic collections, many on public display for the first time since being acquired from the Australian Antarctic Division. Encounter iconic wildlife including penguins and sled dogs, and see the specialised vehicles and scientific equipment designed to survive one of the harshest environments on Earth.

Experience the sights and sounds of Antarctica through immersive displays. Witness the dazzling aurora australis, feel the power of a blizzard, follow the midnight sun and test your communication skills in an interactive code-breaking challenge.

This fascinating exhibition offers a deeper appreciation of Antarctica’s enduring connection to Australia and highlights why protecting this extraordinary wilderness is more important than ever.
