One of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries is coming to Canberra.
The legendary Terracotta Warriors arrive in Canberra this summer, on show at the National Museum of Australia between 11 December 2026 and 2 May 2027.
Created for the tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuang, the Terracotta Warriors are one of the world’s great archaeological discoveries. Buried for more than two millennia, the life sized figures once stood as part of an extraordinary imperial army built to guard the emperor in the afterlife.
The Canberra exhibition brings this remarkable story to life through original warriors, significant artefacts and an immersive experience exploring the mystery surrounding the emperor’s unopened tomb.
Discover the ambition, power and transformation of the Qin dynasty, then look closer at the people, ideas and beliefs behind one of history’s most fascinating archaeological sites.
