RELICS: A New World Rises
Experience LEGO® worlds like never before
The year is 2130. Humans have left Earth. The objects they left behind have found some rather unexpected occupants.
RELICS: A New World Rises is an immersive exhibition where vintage and forgotten objects become home to intricate miniature civilisations built from LEGO® bricks.
Created by Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler, winners of LEGO® Masters Australia, RELICS brings together sculpture, storytelling, design and nostalgia across more than 15 large scale installations.
Look inside a vintage refrigerator and you will find a cryogenic wellness resort. A Volkswagen Beetle has become the power source for an underground civilisation. A grandfather clock has been reverse engineered into a time machine. Even a retro arcade has found another purpose, transformed into a futuristic space port.
Every relic has its own story, with tiny details, visual jokes and curious characters hidden throughout. Look once. Then look again.
A world built around the things we leave behind
RELICS is playful on the surface, but there is more going on inside these miniature worlds.
Set in an imagined future where humanity has exhausted Earth’s natural resources, the exhibition explores consumption, sustainability and our relationship with the objects we use and discard.
The result is part nostalgia trip, part immersive art experience and packed with enough detail to keep both children and adults looking closer.
